The UNESCO World Heritage Committee has designated “The Ancient Town of Si Thep and its Associated Dvaravati Monuments” in Phetchabun province, Thailand, as a cultural world heritage site. This brings the total number of World Heritage Sites in Thailand to seven. The site includes a twin-town site, ancient monuments, and a cave that showcase the architecture, art, and religious diversity of the Dvaravati Empire, which existed from the 6th to the 10th centuries. The addition of this site was announced during the World Heritage Committee’s 45th extended session in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Si Thep School of Art, which originated from this region, had influenced other civilizations in Southeast Asia.
