Thailand is planning to invest $16.5 million in promoting its tourism industry during the peak season. The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, announced that the budget would be allocated to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for various promotional activities. These promotions will run from the fourth quarter of this year until the first quarter of 2024. The budget will be used for projects such as promoting Thailand as a shopping destination, marketing campaigns in international markets, highlighting major festivals, and discussing the expansion of the visa-free regime and longer stays for certain markets.

One of the key focuses of the promotion is to position Thailand as a top shopping destination. A budget of 150 million baht has been allocated for the Amazing Thailand Passport Privileges project, which will offer exclusive privileges and discounts to tourists. Additionally, there is a separate marketing campaign budget of 150 million baht for all global markets. The government is also considering collaborating with airlines for joint tourism promotions and extending entertainment venue hours in certain cities.

Overall, the government of Thailand is taking steps to boost tourism by investing in promotional activities and initiatives. With a focus on shopping, festivals, and attracting international visitors, they aim to attract more tourists and drive economic growth in the country’s tourism sector.
