The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has revised its target for foreign visitor arrivals in 2023 to 25 million, a significant increase from its previous forecast of 18-20 million. This represents approximately 66% of the pre-pandemic level seen in 2019. The TAT also aims to generate 2.38 trillion baht in tourism revenue, up from 1.96 trillion baht in 2019. This positive outlook is due to the recent easing of COVID-19 travel restrictions by China, Thailand’s largest source of tourists. The TAT expects at least 8 million foreign arrivals between January and April, with tourists from Asia and the South Pacific accounting for over 62% of visitors. They also forecast significant visits from Malaysia, India, South Korea, and China in the coming years.
